Lot Essay

Shen Peng, originally from Jiangsu province, was a calligrapher, art critic, and poet. He served as the Deputy Director of the Editorial Office of the People's Fine Arts Publishing House (Renmin Meishu Chubanshe) and was approved by the State Council to receive special government grants. In March 1993, he was elected to take part in the eighth Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He also served as the director of the Chinese Calligraphers' Association and became an honorary art consultant specializing in Chinese paintings and calligraphy.
