A LONGQUAN CELADON TRIPOD CENSER
MING DYNASTY, CIRCA 1522-1566
The deep sides are raised on three cabriole legs and are carved in relief with the Eight Trigrams between bands of inscribed waves and scrolls below a raised border and a band of classic scroll just below the rim. The exterior is covered with a glaze of sea-green color that continues over the rim into the unglazed interior where the potting marks are visible, and over the lower edge onto the base around an unglazed circle.
