Lot Essay

A bowl of this unusual shape and rare design, also with a Chenghua mark, but similarly dated to the Kangxi period, is illustrated in Kangxi Porcelain Wares from the Shanghai Museum Collection, Shanghai/Hong Kong, 1998, no. 97. See, also, the almost identical bowl sold at Christie's New York, 16-17 September 2010, lot 1381.
