TWO BLUE AND WHITE BOWLS
KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARKS IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN DOUBLE CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
The first is of square shape, with deep sides that flare towards the slightly everted rim. The sides are decorated with different scenes of scholars and their attendants at various pursuits within double-line borders separated by chrysanthemum sprigs above ruyi-heads on the chamfered corners. The interior is painted in the center with young boys at play below a decorative border. The second is of ogee form and is painted on the rounded sides with various scenes of ladies in terraced gardens or in a scholar's studio.
7 5/8 and 8 in. (19.3 and 20.4 cm.) diam.
