YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1723-1735)
The dish is decorated in rich cobalt blue with a central ribbon-tied lotus plant bouquet incorporating saggitaria and a stalk of millet, below a narrow band of classic scroll at the rim, which is repeated on the exterior between borders of classic scroll and key fret.
13¾ in. (34.8 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

A dish with the same motif and also painted in the Ming style, but of slightly smaller size (27.8 cm.), is illustrated in Treasures in the Royalty: The Official Kiln Porcelain of the Chinese Qing Dynasty, Shanghai, 2003, p. 122.
