A GILT-LACQUERED BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA
MING DYNASTY, 16TH CENTURY
The elegantly cast figure is seated in dhyanasana, with the right hand held in vitarkamudra, upon a lotus base supported by an hexagonal stand decorated with waves. The figure is dressed in priest's robes and has a serene expression. The hair is styled in tight curls surrounding the usnisha. There is a rectangular opening in the back.
