Of pebble form, the bead is carved with large bulbous eyes set widely apart below ruyi-form markings and a band of scalloped key-fret scroll defining the head. A further-band of key-fret scroll outlines the folded wings, and the underside is carved with a series of curved lines depicting its thorax. The stone is of a pale grey tone with russet and honey-colored inclusions.
