18TH-19TH CENTURY
The mountain is carved on the front with a farmer walking on a rocky ledge, and a sampan in the foreground near a pine tree, all below an inscription incised on a rock face at the top. The reverse is carved with bare trees growing amidst rocks. The stone is an attractive, slightly blue-toned, grey-green color with some areas of russet and brown color.

The inscription is poetic and refers to the fable of Taohua Yuan, the Peach Blossom Spring, written by the Eastern Jin (317-420) poet Tao Yuanming, as well as to the carving on the reverse.
