A RARE SMALL CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL FIGURE OF A KNEELING MONKEY
18TH CENTURY
The monkey is shown kneeling on one knee with head raised and arms and hands positioned as if gesturing. It is dressed in a turquoise 'leaf' collar and a pale yellow and black animal skin tied around its hips, and the white body has an overall pattern of gilded 'curls'. The bottom of the right foot is pierced.
