A GEM-SET AND ENAMELLED GOLD LOCKET AND CHAIN
QAJAR IRAN, 19TH CENTURY
The locket of oval form, one side with bands of rubies and diamonds surrounded by freshwater pearls, the other side with a large in emerald set with central enamelled gold stud depicting the lion and sun symbol of the Qajar dynasty, the edges fluted, the chain with a quatrefoil base with strings of inset emeralds attached on either side followed by a chain and terminating with a large tourmaline-set pin clasp
Locket 1½in. (3.6cm.) diam.; chain 8 5/8in. (22cm.) long
