In the form of a nautilus shell with lion head finial, realistically engraved with its mane, showing its fangs, with engraved owner's inscription around the mouth reading 'sahib-i imda Wali Khan', the stopper in the form of a bird with suspension chain

Lot Essay

The inscription on our powder horn might relate to the chief minister of the last ruler of Pashtun origin of the Deccani state of Kurnool, Ghulam Rasul Khan. For further discussion on Kurnool see Narahari G. Chetty, a Manual of Kurnool District in the Presidency of Madras, Madras 1886
