The margins of the present album page, decorated in gilt and polychrome with animal hunts, are reminiscent of the decoration found on the Hamilton Albums, originally commissioned by Antoine Louis Polier (1736-95 AD) in Lucknow. Eleven pages of the album are now in the collection of the Islamic Art Museum in Berlin (Hickmann and Enderlein, Indische Albumblätter, 1979, cat. nos. 31, 35 and 41 for instance.
On the reverse, the finely painted margins with a lattice of floral sprays are probably mid-17th century. For similar margins see for instance the portrait of Khalilullah Khan, sold Christie's South Kensington, 1 October 2012, lot 20 or the portrait of Mirza Bahmanyar I'tiqad Khan, son of Asaf Khan in J.M. Rogers, Mughal Miniatures, London, 1993, cat.77.

The face of the reclining lady is particularly close to types found on Faizabad painting circa 1770 AD. See for instance the face of the dancer balancing a bottle, and that of her companion with the drum on the renowned Chester Beatty Painting attributed to the artist Faizullah or one of his close followers (In. 69.6, India's Fabled City The Art of Courtly Lucknow, Los Angeles, 2010, cat.21, p.76).
