Arabic manuscript on paper, arranged with four superposed panels of text, the first with a line of large elegant black thuluth script at top, a panel of three lines of naskh script below, a panel of three lines of thuluth script below, the signatures of the masters in a panel of five lines of naskh script at the bottom, each illuminated in gold and polychrome, with fine floral cartouches around, with gold floral margins around, now mounted flat but originally foldable in two, mounted, glazed and framed

Lot Essay

The master awarding this ijaza to 'Abd al-Latif al-Taffi is Muhammad al-Sukuti who received his ijaza from Muhammad al-Husni known as Qadi Zadah. The text also indicates that the following masters have allowed this [graduation]: Khalil al-Kalimi, Ahmad al-Duhni, Yahya al-Shukri, 'Izzati, Hasan al-Wasfi, Ahmad al-Sufi, Mahmud al-Nuri, Muhammad al-'Awni, Mustafa al-Rasimi, Sharif al-Ramzi, al-Khulusi, Mustafa al-Shukri, Sharif al-Hifzi, Muhammad al-Madhi, Muhammad al-Fawzi and Husayn al-'Akifi.
