Depicting an episode of the ottoman military history, of rectangular form, on plain base, the flat lid and sides painted with sinuous patterns and scrollwork, the front with a scene depicting a mounted officer, his ordnance and a standard bearer in full uniform reaching a fortress guarded by two swordsmen, each identified with Cyrillic inscriptions, dated 1862, with original lock, the key lacking

This chest decoration possibly relate to the military campaigns led by the Ottoman empire into the principality of Montenegro after the latter encouraged unrest and rebellions against the ottoman rule in Herzegovina. Ultimately, further to the Convention of Scutari of August 31, 1862, the principality had to submit to the Ottoman polity.
