A SAMSON POTTERY MOSQUE LAMP IN THE IZNIK STYLE
WITH SAMSON MONOGRAM, FRANCE, LATE 19TH CENTURY
With bulbous body rising to a flaring neck, on short ring base, the body with three suspension loops, the decoration arranged as two main registers with a large palmette scroll around the body and a pseudo-calligraphic inscription in thuluth script inspired from sura al-nur around the neck, on cobalt blue ground, between geometric friezes, below a band of red trefoil palmettes and Chinese clouds, black 'monogram' swirl under the base
