CIRCA 1ST CENTURY A.D.
The oval bezel with the naked standing figure of Omphale, the lover of Hercules, facing left, draped in the Nemean lion's skin and carrying the hero's club over her right shoulder, in mid-19th Century ring setting with French marks for gold
¾ in. (1.9 cm.) long; ring size M.
Provenance
Dr. Rudolf Schmidt (1900-1970) collection, Solothurn, acquired 10th March 1953 from E. Borowski (blatt 059.2 recto), thence by descent to the present owner.
