Messrs. Edwards & Roberts were established in 1854 at 2 Wardour Street, Soho, and had by the end of the 19th Century, expanded to various other addresses in the surrounding streets. As 'Antique and Modern cabinet makers and importers of ancient furniture' they were renowned for their revival of 'old French styles of the period Louis XIV, XV, XVI and Empire' which were 'much in request' (The Clergy of St. Anne's Soho, Two Centuries of Soho, London, 1898, pp. 188-192).
