In diesem Blumenstilleben des Malers des Expressionismus Philipp Bauknecht führt der Rhythmus der Farben und Formen nahezu in eine Abstraktion. Das Rot der Blüten und das Grün der Blätter kontrastiert effektvoll vor dem blauen Hintergrund. In der Darstellung der Vase treffen sich diese Farben erneut und werden durch Gelb-Orangetöne akzentuiert, in denen Bauknecht seine Begeisterung für die Natur und insbesondere die Pflanze ausdrückt. Der Maler, der krankheitsbedingt lange Zeit in Davos lebte und dort einen Grossteil seines Werkes schuf, bringt hier zum Ausdruck, dass das Naturerlebnis für ihn eines der zentralen Motive wiedergibt.
Das Werk wird durch Gioia Smid und Iris Wazzau in das Inventar der Ölgemälde von Philipp Bauknecht aufgenommen.
