The bridge depicted is most likely the old Blackfriars Bridge opened to the public in 1769 and originally named 'William Pitt Bridge' , after the Prime Minister William Pitt the Elder. St Paul's cathedral can be seen on the far side of the Thames on the right-hand side of the picture.
