A FRENCH GOLD-MOUNTED LACQUER SOUVENIR
UNMARKED, CIRCA 1780
Painted with red, green, orange and cream stripes, oval inset [portrait miniature of a gentleman below cut-out "Souvenir" mount, reverse with monogram LG below "D'Amitié", complete with mounted wood pencil and ivory leaf; another Souvenir, probably 18th century but with Austrian control marks for 13 carat gold post 1872, blue-stained ivory inlaid with gold star motifs, foliate-chased mounts, two oval reserves, en grisaille on pink ground, one with 2 female Classical female figures, the other with coat of arms , cut-out mounts "Souvenir D'Amitié" ; a Continental gold-mounted circular tortoiseshell box, 2nd. half of 18th century, ivory panel in cover carved with lock of hair and flowers inscribed "Réunis comme dans mon coeur"; interior with inscribed gold panel "Souvenir de ma mère J. Cvd: Muelen et de mon fils G.Wv. Balveren" and a silver-mounted mother-of-pearl circular snuff box, probably Dutch, mid-18th century, carved on cover with courting couple and chaperone seated under a tree
