A Cloisonné Vase and Cover
Attributed to Honda Yosaburo, Meiji period (late 19th century)
Intricately worked in gold and silver wire of different sizes and various coloured cloisonné enamels with hexagonal panels and foliate lappets containing mythical ho-o birds and dragons, the panels containing sacred pearls and flowers, geometric borders with chrysanthemum, hanabishi and butterflies, multiple brocade and geometric borders with stylised flowers around the neck, three feet decorated with lappets and hanabishi bands, the cover with panels containing a dragon, a ho-o bird, a turtle entwined with a snake and two mythical serpents, each enclosed by a brocade border, a band of hanabishi around the rim, the finial with two entwined dragons, silver rim
