A PAIR OF PORPHYRY COLUMNS
19TH CENTURY/ EARLY 20TH CENTURY
Now surmounted by one probably 13th Century and the other possibly 13th Century white marble corbels carved with stylised birds, animals and monsters, the columns of plain form with moulded borders and rims upon stoned shaped square-section bases, each base carved with a band of trailing rope-twist polychrome decoration, some restorations and one column with crack to the body
the porphyry columns 55 in. (139.7 cm.) high; the corbels 9 ¼ in. (23.5 cm.) high; the bases 10 ½ in. (26.7 cm.) high
