Lot Essay

The most well known of the mammoth species, the woolly mammoth was similar in size to the African elephant, but is particularly famous for the incredible size of its tusks, which could reach up to 16ft (5m) long. It is thought that their tusks were used to clear the snow to reach the vegetation beneath.
