PROBABLY IMPERIAL, JINGDEZHEN, 1770-1830
The exterior of the bottle is decorated with a continuous scene of a blue-enamelled five-clawed dragon writhing amidst ruby-enamelled formalised clouds in pursuit of a flaming pearl.

A similar bottle in the Hong Kong Museum of Art is illustrated in Snuff Bottles of the Ch'ing Dynasty, Hong Kong, 1978, no. 114. Two other examples decorated entirely in ruby enamel, have been published: one offered by Butterfield and Butterfield, 7 November 1991, lot 969; and the other illustrated in Zhongguo Biyanhu Zhenshang, no. 125.
