Lot Essay

A gilt bronze cartel clock in the Muse Jacquemart-Andre, Paris is also stamped by Blerzy (P. Verlet, Les Bronzes Dores Français du XVIIIe Sicle, 1987, p. 221). Two Blerzy are known: Jean-Baptiste, who attained his matrise on January 22, 1760, and Ange-Philippe who became maître March 23, 1774. A Blerzy is listed in the rue de la Verrurie, while two members of the family are recorded as working with Pajou and Pitoin in 1786 probably on the Opera at Versailles.
