Howell with external details including cleats and eyes, mast and pitot head, cockpit with windscreen, instrument panel, wheel and helmeted pilot, air intakes, steps, dummy removable panels, sponsons and engine exhaust, finished in 'silver' and orange and mounted on two turned wood columns -- 11 x 36in. (28 x 91.5cm.). Display base with brass plate engraved 'This was the boat used by John Cobb in his ill-fated attempt to break the World Water Speed Record where on Loch Ness on 29 Sept 1952 he achieved a one-way speed of 240mph at that time the fastest on water, before Crusader hit the wash of a support boat and sank killing John Cobb who died from a heart attack'.
