A finely carved early 19th Century French Prisoner of War boxwood model of a 98-gun First Rate, with bound masts, yards with stun's'l booms, standing and running rigging with bone blocks, carved warrior figurehead with spear, carved and decorated hair rails, anchors and floats, catheads, belaying rails, capstan, stove pipe, hammock nettings, deck rails, gratings, deck rings, deck lights, guns and two ship's boats with thwarts and oars, one in stern davits. The hull, with finely carved stern and quarter gallery detailing and decoration is finished in white, black and lacquer and mounted on two carved stands on railed and capped parquetry base (some restoration) -- 10 x 12½in.
