Lot Essay

The arms are for the 1746 marriage of Henry Bright (1715-1777), West India Merchant, of Welland Court, Worcs., sometime High Sheriff and Mayor of Bristol to Sarah, daughter of Richard Meyler of Bristol. The marriage marks the association of these two important families heavily involved in the slave trade between Bristol and the Caribbean.
