THE ONLY ITALIAN EDITION of a French work first published in the mid-16th-century. Jacques du Fouilloux was a keen and experienced hunter: ‘The Vénerie caused a stir amongst sixteenth century huntsmen, and the numerous editions of it which appeared within one hundred years of the first publication show how its popularity was mantained’. Schwerdt I, p. 154; cf. Thiébaud 294 (first French edition only).
