FIRST EDITION IN SPANISH. The Greek historian Xenophon (fl. 4th century BC) is the earliest known writer on hunting. His treatise entitled 'De la caca y monteria' appears at the end of the volume, possibly marking the first occasion that a treatise on hunting was printed in Spanish. Gracian dedicates his translation to Philip of Spain who married Mary Tudor two years after it was printed. The inked price of 290 maravedís is inserted in the last line of the title-page. Brunet V, 1501; Palau 376843; Schwerdt II, 303c.
