Lot Essay
Marianne Richter was contracted to the Märta Måås-Fjetterström studio at Båstad, in the southwest of Sweden, from 1942, having previously studied at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, where she was active in both textile and ceramics design. Her works are immensely colourful - as demonstrated by this large scale, flat-woven carpet in dramatic shades of orange, reflecting the inspiration that she found in the works of contemporary artists, most notably Paul Klee.
