PORTES ET FENETRES -- A collection of erotic watercolours with overlays in the ‘porte et fenêtre’ manner, France, c.1900.
23 erotic watercolours (c.220 x c.150 mm) on card (320 x 245 mm), all but three with a painted overlay mounted at one edge to conceal another scene below, one of the scenes with a double-overlay, manuscript captions in ink over pencil. (Many overlays detached, some scenes evidently had additional overlays now lacking, some small losses to some flaps, some margins with small losses or wear.) Modern portfolio edged and lined with black lace, the front cover titled in manuscript ‘Les Amours Secrétes [sic] de 1900’.
A COLLECTION OF WATERCOLOURS WITH PAINTED OVERLAYS REVEALING EXPLICIT SCENES. One watercolour includes two flaps, staging the scene in increasing levels of undress. The settings are mostly domestic, with maids and governesses, some showing discipline.
