Quarto (24 x 164 mm). Title vignette and 18 illustrations including the frontispiece illustration on the verso of the half-title, and with a suite of plates in pink on black showing the same designs, and a duplicate suite on Japan. (Light scattered spotting in the text.) Full black morocco by Gema after a design by Prassinos, the covers with a line-and-dot design of a kissing couple, the spine and sides titled continuously in pink and gilt, top edge gilt, leather doublures with a pointillé design by Prassinos, black velour-lined tan leather chemise and black paper-covered slipcase. Provenance: Mario Prassinos (presentation inscription with drawing to:) – ‘Dr Périgord’.

PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED BY THE ARTIST WITH A DRAWING, IN A FINE BINDING OF HIS DESIGN EXECUTED BY GEMA. ONE OF 10 LETTERED COPIES with two additional suites of the illustrations, one of these printed pink on black, and issued with one original signed drawing. This copy, lettered ‘C’, EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED with two further signed pencil drawings, in addition to Prassinos’s a full-page pen-and-ink drawing on the half-title presenting the book to Dr Périgord. AE and ABPC record only one copy of this tirage de tête: the Nordmann copy (sold, Christie’s Paris, 14-15 December 2006, lot 29). Altogether only 160 copies were published.
