A MOTHER-OF-PEARL INLAID HONGMU FOUR-FOLD SCREEN WITH FAMILLE VERTE INSET PANELS AND A WOOD STAND

The screen is inset with sixteen variously shaped famille verte panels depicting figural and narrative scenes. The frame is carved in openwork with two dragons to the cresting, and the panels are inset on a geometric ground. It is embellished with a mother-of-pearl floral inlay. The screen is accompanied by a wood stand.
Each panel, 79 in. (200.7 cm.) high; 17½ in. (44.5 cm.) wide
Provenance
Acquired by the vendor's grandmother in Hong Kong prior to the mid-1950s.
