A POLYCHROME-DECORATED IVORY DOUBLE GOURD-FORM SHALLOW TRAY
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The tray is finely carved and pierced as a double gourd on a gnarled leafy branch entwined with vines, flowers and a further double gourd. The tray is embellished with a large bat to one side and two confronting butterflies to the interior. The embellishments are highlighted in pigment and gilt.
7 1/8 in. (18 cm.) long

Acquired 12 October 1979 in France.
