A YELLOW-GROUND SILK BROCADE YARDAGE
19TH CENTURY
The yardage is woven in multicoloured and gilt thread and depicts two columns of elephants each bearing a vessel filled with three swords and a chime representing the rebus ping sheng san ji which may be translated as "may you suddenly receive three successive promotions". The design is interspersed with large lotus scrolls.
