A CINNABAR LACQUER THREE-TIRED BOX AND COVER
MING DYNASTY, 16TH CENTURY
The rectangular box is carved to each side with peonies and prunus amongst intricate scrolling foliage. The cover is carved with a scholar and his attendant beneath a pine tree. The interiors are black-lacquered.
