A BLUE KESI COURT ROBE, CHAOFU
19TH CENTURY
The robe is woven to the dark-blue ground with four five-clawed dragons in pursuit of flaming pearls amongst thunderbolts, scrolling clouds and scattered bats above cresting waves and lishui stripes. The skirt is similarly decorated with two sinuous dragons beneath eight roundels enclosing further dragons.
