A SMALL FAMILLE VERTE ROULEAU VASE
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The cylidrical body of the vase is decorated with a continuous riverscape scene with a poetic inscription to one side, followed by a signature 'Ran mo'. The scene depicts a figure within a sampan, by a grassy bank with a tiled-roof house surrounded by trees. The shoulder of the vase is decorated with a band of four roundels enclosing ribboned emblems.

The poetic inscription may be translated as:
' Along the coast, the bells chime as the rain falls.
Through the trees, the lights of the fishing boats brighten up the river.'
