A WUCAI 'HUNDRED BOYS' VASE AND COVER
EARLY KANGXI PERIOD, CIRCA 1680
The vase is decorated with a continuous scene of the 'hundred boys' pursuing various activities including playing the qin, reading, admiring calligraphy scrolls and playing weiqi, all below rocks, flowers and a banana plant. The neck is painted with five of the Daoist Treasures, Babao, tied with ribbons.

A comparable vase is illustrated in Porcelains in Polychrome and Contrasting Colours, the Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong, 1999, Vol. 38, No. 129, p. 141.
Another comparable example from the collection of M.C.D Borden, Esq., was sold by the American Art Association and is illustrated in their exhibition catalogue Beautiful Oriental Porcelains and Other Valuable Art Objects, 14-17 February 1913, no. 297.
