Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1948 and its subsequent sale on 29 march 1949.
Consigned by a private collector and fresh to the market, this reference 565 is furthermore distinguished by its very good overall condition. The charismatic dial displays a great shine and the hard enamel scale are as raised as the true connoisseur would expect. The case has not been subject to careless polishing, demonstrated by the full proportions.

Reference 565, the first large water-resistant watch featuring a two-piece case with screw back and dust cover, was available with either subsidiary or sweep centre seconds. The timelessly modern design of reference 565 served as inspiration for the creation of the 2006 stainless steel inaugural reference 5565.
