Lot Essay

With Rolex original punched Guarantee, instructions, leather Guarantee holder, leather wallet, handkerchief, sales tag, fitted presentation box and outer packaging

A true time capsule, this example of reference 6263 comes to us in absolutely original and untouched condition: there is not one spot on the dial, not a scratch on the case, the case back retains the original green sticker. This is one of those rare occasions when one is absolutely entitled to use the description "new old stock" without overstating the condition of the piece. It belongs to the last batches of manually wound Daytonas: the switch to automatic will be done a couple years later, in 1988. As a matter of fact, one can already see the influence of the new designs in one small detail: the crystal is not as rounded as before; rather it presents a sharp edge, as will all the sapphire crystals mounted on the automatic models. A watch in this condition could not not come accompanied by its sale kit, and in this instance there is a true plethora of accessories to satisfy the needs of even the most detail-oriented collector. It is with confidence that one can say it will be a long time, if ever, before a gold 6263 so complete and so mint will again be seen on the market.
