In the Islamic taste, each paned window finely enameled with a central flower filled Mamluk-style mosque lamp or tall vase, the entwined flower border reserved on translucent pale-yellow and edged by a narrow frame of translucent mauve

Lot Essay

Working in the Persian style of his contemporary Joseph Brocard, J. Philippe Imberton is recorded working as a designer for Appert Frères in Clichy circa 1878. He also had an atelier of his own, Imberton et Cie, at 19 Rue Rochechouart, and exhibited at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1889. A very similar set of Imberton doors with less colorful surrounds were offered, Bonhams, Dubai, 11 May 2009, lot 50.
