The following two tables are based on an early model by François Linke, which was introduced circa 1890 and remained a popular design until 1919. The vitrine or bijouterie version of this table was exhibited by Linke at 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle, illustrated in situ in C. Payne, François Linke: The Belle Epoque of French Furniture, Woodbridge, 2003, p. 122, pl. 137. Linke created several variants on the design, including one with a fleur de pêcher marble top, which can be seen in an engraving of Linke's Place Vendôme showrooms in 1903 (C. Payne, pp. 160 & 161, pls. 171 & 172), and a version with an alternately fluted and foliate frieze, index no. 1301 (C. Payne, p. 502). Examples of the model with marble tops were sold Christie's, New York, 9 June 2014, lots 5 and 6 ($46,250 and $57,500).
