Lot Essay

The design of this carpet is based on a 17th century Persian rug in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and was published by M. S. Diamond and Jean Mailey, Oriental Rugs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 1973, fig. 66.
