Oblong on four ball and claw feet, with egg-and-dart border, centre mounted with receivers for two silver-mounted glass bottles flanking a central oval compartment with hinged cover, the latter engraved with an 'A' cypher below a viscount's coronet

The cypher is that of Charles Robert Spencer, Viscount Althorp, later 6th Earl Spencer (1857-1922).
