Lot Essay

Two oval dishes with very similar decoration are illustrated by Carmen Ravanelli Giudotti, Ceramiche Occidentali del Museo Civico Medievale di Bologna, Bologna, 1985, pp. 237-238, nos. 193 and 194; see also p. 236, no. 192 for a circular dish of the same type, inscribed on the reverse DONNA/MARIA FELICE/BOZOLENI, perhaps named for the recipient of the dish or service. Another oval dish with birds and pomegranates is illustrated by David Banzato and Michaelangelo Munarini, Ceramiche del '600 e '700 dei Musei Civici di Padova, Venice, 1995, p. 174, no. 260.
