A young lady, traditionally called Josephine de Beauharnais (1763-1814), Empress of the French and Queen of Italy, in gold-trimmed white dress with striped sash around waist and corresponding turban, a fine gauze shawl draped over her left shoulder
Signed ‘Quaglia’ (lower right)
On ivory
Oval, 83 mm. high, rectangular gilt-metal frame with foliate and star border and star spandrels in the corners
