Of shallow circular form, the pierced trefoil handle engraved with initials 'AW', marked on rim and handle

The attribution of this mark is based on research by Dr. David Mitchell for the Goldsmiths' Company. Similar vessels are called porringers in 17th century American inventories. it has been debated whether the British examples were only used in medical practice or if they had many uses.
