A PAIR OF GEORGE III SILVER CANDLESTICKS
MARK OF RICHARD COOKE, LONDON, 1800, ONE NOZZLE BY JOHN SCOFIELD, CIRCA 1790
Each on circular base with gadrooned rim, the tapering fluted columns terminate in a fluted socket with a detachable gadrooned nozzle, the base and nozzle each engraved with a coat-of-arms, each marked on base and nozzle
11 ½ in. (29 cm.) high
The arms are those of Gregory.
Provenance
Possibly Gregory de Ligne Gregory (1786-1854) of Harlaxton Manor, Lincolnshire, by bequest to
Sir Glynne Earle Welby-Gregory 3rd Bt. (1806-1875) and then by descent.
